Herbert Harry Hopp passed away passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 8, 2017 surrounded by his family.  Herbert was born in Detroit, MI on July 30, 1930.  Son of Herbert and Gertrude (Wirgau) Hopp.  Herb served our country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was employed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture as a Food Inspector, a job that he loved, for 34 years and retired on March 29, 1992. 

     Herb married Shirley (nee Moller) on April 8, 1961.  They moved into a small home in Harper Woods where their 3 children were born.  In the winter of 1971 they moved the family to Clare, MI.  Herb and Shirley moved again in 1990 to Lake Nettie in Hawks, MI where they enjoyed a wonderful retirement with great friends.  In 2012 they left their beloved home on Lake Nettie to move into a beautiful condominium in Mt Pleasant. 

     Herbert was proceeded in death by sisters, Delphine Wirgau, Charlotte Roth, Francis Harder, Virginia Sirianni, Eleanor Britz, Marlene Wieczorek, and a brother, Donald Hopp. 

     Herbert is survived by his wife, Shirley. His children, Carl (Patty) Hopp of Mt Pleasant, Martha (Rob) Ohler of Clare, and Dan (Kari) of Hopkins.  Also, his 6 grandchildren; Nicholas and Rachel Ohler, Daniel and Brandon Hopp, and Julie and Michael Hopp.  Also, surviving are a sister, Jacqueline Ricia, and brothers, Gordon and Richard Hopp; and many nieces and nephews. 

     Funeral services for Herb will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant with Pastors Jonahon Bakker and Benjamin Ulledalen officiating.  Inturment will be at Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Family and friends will gather at the church on Friday from 4 – 8 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until time of the service.  Memorial contributions have been suggested to Zion Lutheran Church.  Envelopes are available at the church and Rowley Funeral Home.
